After twenty years, France is now telling us that they will put former Rwandan spy chief in the Habyarimana genocidal regime on trial for his role in the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.
I smell a rat.
Is this an attempt by France to cleanse itself of its criminal involvement, participation, support and execution of the Genocide against Tutsi?
Who will be on trial : Simbikangwa or France?
There is no doubt about France’s involvement in the Genocide against Tutsi. In the words of former French Foreign Affairs minister, Bernard Kouchner “France played a bad role in this genocide. It didn’t allow justice to do its job, and investigate correctly, or bring to justice those responsible who had fled to France.”
His words. Not mine. And among the people he is talking about is this monster of a man, Pascal Simbikangwa, (and several hundred others residing in France today) who by all accounts, instilled fear in every Tutsi he met and finally murdered, or ordered to be murdered.
Simbikangwa was one of the brains behind the Radio Mille Collines, which was primarily used to broadcast messages against Tutsi and encouraged their slaughter.
As soon as Kigali fell, Simbikangwa and his cabal of criminals fled to the DRC, via so-called “Operation Turquoise” territory curved by the French to protect their allies in the Rwandan army responsible for the Genocide. Simply put France protected all those responsible for planning and methodically executing the Genocide against Tutsi. To this day.
Now, 20 years later and on the eve of commemorating 20 years of the genocide against Tutsi France wants us to believe that they want justice done? Or is this another way of tormenting us?
Justice delayed, is justice denied.
From the DRC, Simbikangwa moved to Kenya, then Cameroon, before settling down in the French territory of Mayote in 2005. I cannot believe French intelligence was not aware of his presence.
In 2008, the French “apprehended” Simbikangwa and charged him with possession of fake documents to support his travel. Not his known active involvement and participation in the Genocide against Tutsi. This did not happen until April 2009, in the French territory of Reunion.
Is Simbikangwa France’s fall guy?
If France is serious about addressing its well documented criminal participation in the Genocide against Tutsi, let them round up everybody on the wanted list, including “Mother Genocide” Kanziga, Habyarimana’s widow, and let chips fall where they may.
Voices of our departed demand it. Humanity cries for it. It is not only the moral thing to do, but justice should be fulfiled.
